If you will permit me a visit, however, I will bring you a gift. I cannot bring you wildflowers as in our younger days, but I have collected seeds from everywhere I have been. They were always for you, in the hope that I might someday be able to grow you wildflowers from every corner of the globe. I had begun to think you would only see them in my dreams. Take them now, and my heart with them. It remains as it ever was — yours. Your devoted friend, Henry P.S. You spoke of a vacancy at your school for a gardener. Before I saw you today, I planned to set off and travel again. But if you will have me, I will gladly root to this spot and tend a garden for you for as long as you wish it. The choice is yours, and always will be.
